About Us
Spectral Symposium is a podcast hosted by Brandy Anderson and Alison Hughes, two seekers devoted to truth in its most expansive forms. What began as years of soulful, metaphysical conversations over coffee has evolved into a shared offering for those who feel the pull of the unseen and the unasked. Together, Brandy and Alison explore the terrain where spirituality, philosophy, psychology, theology, and the paranormal converge. They speak to the mysteries behind existence and the quiet work of awakening. Their conversations are an invitation to inquiry, imagination, and inner transformation.
Brandy Anderson is a Spiritual Director, Inner Alchemy Coach, and author of Through the Veil: A Glimpse into the Afterlife. After a spiritual awakening in 2014, Brandy spent years sifting through the philosophical and theological nuances of mainstream religion. Ultimately, she found mainstream answers to life’s most important questions less than satisfying, which led her into a more mystical worldview.
In 2021 Brandy had a paranormal experience after her grandmother crossed that served to bring things into sharp focus with searing existential clarity. In her book, Through the Veil, Brandy shares about her sustained paranormal connection with her loved ones on the other side of the veil and offers insight into what happens when we die and how that should inform our lives now.
Brandy enjoys pondering the mysteries of life and engaging in philosophical and theological conversations. Spectral Symposium Podcast was born out of her ongoing conversations with her good friend and co-host, Alison Hughes.

Alison Hughes has a BA in Psychology and a MA in Education from Auburn University. She is a spirituality-history-truth seeking- obsessed co-host of the podcast Spectral Symposium. Alison grew up in the bible belt of the US and was entrenched in the world of southern Christian religion growing up. After meeting Brandy and having many metaphysical and spiritual conversations over coffee, Alison and Brandy, decided to start a podcast to make their discussions public for others who might want to lean into the world of the unseen.
Alison currently lives in a small town in Alabama with her husband and her dog, Maeby. Her cat, Mowgli, is on a semi-permanent summer camp vacation at his grandparent’s house. She considers herself a fantasy and sci-fi nerd and always has a book near, loves music with Jimi Hendrix style licks, and taking care of her many house plants. Here’s a picture of Maeby!
